Domain Canonicalization is a process of choosing the best URL from several choices for a given web page.

Sometimes you enter a domain name abc.com without www. And with www. And if your site opens like http://abc.com and http://www.abc.com , then your sites has canonicalization issues. You just do 301 redirection which has less or more links. Use Opensiteexplorer.org to know which page has less or more links.
