Cache means when search engine crawler come to your page or found any update on site or in other words we can say that it is the snapshot of a web page captured and indexed by the Google.
Index means you page is stored in Search Engine database.

Indexing is a process to make a webpage searchable on search engine whereas the process of caching refers to providing a reprinting content snapshot.Google also takes a snapshot of each page on a website and stores it in a different data base which is known as cache data base. If you click on the “Cached” link, you will see the web page as it looked when we indexed it.

Cache means cached copy of the web page the way the Web page looked when Google’s spiders indexed it of any Web page.
Indexing mean search engine spider processes each page it crawls in order to compile a main index of all the words it sees and their location of each page.

Cache means when Search Engine Crawler or Bot come to your page and takes the snapshot of that page , its called as Cache.
Whereas Index means, after taking snapshot it stores it in the Search Engine's database, is called as an index.
