I have started to create profile in top social media and social networking sites. While creating my profile i am adding my site in it.

Does this helps any way in ranking my site in SERP and helps in increasing the PR to my site.?

the concept of profile is to promote your business but if you put link in any site which can allow you to submit profile,you can definitely get backlink ;)

hi friend, profile backlinks from social sites are usually NOFOLLOW. hence useless for ranking. I would suggest to make forum profile link. make sure to use keyword in profile area. Also properly check keyword in Google webmaster tool and http://serp-checker.ezmlm.org/.
