Try contacting a host directly, and interviewing them, like try asking for details about their datacenter, uptime guarantee, and if they can prove their uptime in any way. Also ask about their server specifications, that's always nice to know.

I tried all the suggested sites and found out that the best and easiest way is to request quotes from hosting companies directly.

I used www.hostmarker.com and www.hostquote.com and they helped a lot in receiving price quotes and special discounts from hosts.

www.webhostingtalk.com was also very helpful in researching the creditabilitiy of hosts...
