Please be advised that HOSTGATOR does not stand behind its refund guarantee. After about 10 days I requested to have my account cancel because of too old software on accounts. Such as Apache version 1.39. Some of applications required Apache 2.x. I followed the required procedures to cancel. After about 24 hours I got an email back asking to explain the reason for cancelation. I did. Absolutly no response since then. I called, I used live chat, only to get more run around. Hostgator advertises 45 days refund guarantee on their website. When I contacted then to cancel account I was promptly told it was just a 30 day guarantee. Irregardless, I had only had the account 10 days. I submitted request on 11/16. It is now 11/19 and the account is still not cancelled. STAY AWAY!! NOT A REPUTABLE COMPANY!!!!

That is why I always as a consumer get the domains separate from hosting companies. I myself prefer godaddy for domains.

I think that we have to get some confirmation before we say any word about. That might be not true at all ;)

As FDCHost said do not host with your domain registrar. I use several domain registrars and all of them offer hosting, but I never host my sites with them.

Web hosting company can play two roles as domain name registar and as web hoster. Just make sure that your data is used for the domain name registartion.
