Hello! If you have more then 1 web site, do you always keep it one place or have different companies?

Not sure I understand what your asking? You mean have different hosting companies for one single website?

No, differnt companies for several web sites. Not for only one ;)

Why not? It's very convenient.

I believe this is very much of a personal preference, some would prefer to have one single account to handle all the domains, some prefer to separate the website to different account, or rather different web host to minimize the risk of loosing everything in case of a bad damage.

I think that the one will keep all domains in one account only in cas when he know that web sites are not important to him.

I think using one account with multiple domain hosting or a reseller plan gives you more control over managing them.

In my opinion it's safer to host your sites with several different companies in case there is a problem with one of them, the rest of your sites won't be affected.

Well, the only important reason for changing the hosting provider is if you are not satisfied with them. In other words, if you have been hosting domain names and websites with a company for some year and you are quite happy with their features and options, so why would you like to change your hosting company?

bermuda, yes I agree with you, but I meant mostly safety related issues. Please try to answer to this thread in this way

I have to agree about the consideration for using different companies, but equally why do this if you are happy with your existing provider?

Equally, not every customer wants or needs the same specification or requirements
Some customers refuse to host on Windows servers, others may not be so fussy
Some may require specific types of databases, others may not need any

Most website hosting companies either offer duality platforms (Unix that can also operate ASP) or separate platforms (Windows and Unix)

I used to have separate platforms, but it caused problems when customers wanted to change from ASP/SQL to php/MySQL
I therefore decided 8 years ago to seek out the best I could find that customers wanted
I made a mistake with my first contract, but thankfully not all the customers had been moved to the new provider, and the second contract was much more successful, with about 95% of my customers now on this platform

Most people would prefer same company and probably under the same account as add-on domains. But for me, different class -C IPs are a must since I would like (1way) my sites for some PR juice. So differnt hosts is one option, so is SEO friendly hosting.

I spread out my sites over 3 providers.

Using one host Hqhost.net, find this rather convenient as their services meet my needs.
