Hello.

I am doing keyword research from Google keyword tool and doing competitor website analysis for keywords. I want to know that is there any proper way to set keywords in Meta Title of a page? Is there any steps or process to keep in mind while creating meta title and description?

Your replies are very valuable for me.

You can create title tag with 55 to 60 character includes space. You can target more than one keyword in this criteria. Just add | (Pipe) between two keywords. Pipe ( | ) is work ad or operator.

I think the 60 character limit is ideal for a META title. It should reflect what is your website is all about. You need this to get noticed by visitors when they searched on SERPs.

While writing a meta title you should keep these points in mind
1. No more than 70 characters long including spaces.
2. The most important keywords need to be written first in your title and the least important last.
3. Use pipes to separate keywords, e.g.
4. Most Important Keyword | Next Important | Least Important
5. Keep your phrases short, no if’s ands, buts and so on.

first you should know what exactly your website is about and the services you provide. That should help solve half your problems in looking for keywords. you just have to place yourself as a user and THINK about what they would type in Google.

The second step would be arranging the words and considering that you should not allot more than 70-80 characters including spaces.

Thanks for your replies indicating the size of Meta title. But my question is "is there any proper way to set keywords in Meta Title of a page?". I just want to know how to arrange keywords in meta title which does not show repeated keywords in the eye of search engine (Google)?

You can check one of my page that has no PR and not in a ranking as well. Please check meta description also.

Thanks for replies. I am trying to get the answer of this question. someone told me to put your main keyword in meta title, meta description and meta keywords and even in the content. Is this true? Need expert advice for this. As you know that keyword is the main factor for any website.

A meta tag is a line of HTML coding that contains metadata about a webpage. Meta tag information doesn't change how the page looks; it won’t be seen by the website viewer, unless they are viewing your source code. There are two common types of meta tags — meta description tags and meta keywords tags.

use pipe sign or minus sign to separate keywords, you can use upto 50 characters in title and 230 in description and 7-8 keywords are enough for a page.
