To make ASP run under Linux, PHP script files are saved as ASP extensions and are redirected to the PHP interpreter. So it looks like the server serves ASP files, but these are actually PHP scripts.

I think if your site is Windows-specific, I think Windows hosting might be a much simpler way out than running Windows as a linux application.
With the Windows hosting solutions available today, i mean both pricing and quality, the choice of Windows hosting is as wide as for Linux.
I think Jodohost.com and Sibername.com are good illustrations to my words both offering Windows NET support.
And if the money is not an option for you I would recommend you to add webhostgiant.com windows web hosting to your list for consideration.
Hope you will get well about your question

It is possible to run .Net in linux and Unix operating System. Both are supported
But you have to mount your .NET File into Linux.

Actually, ASP and PHP are two completely different languages. When you rename the script from php to asp you do not change the language but just the extension.
It is possible to have ASP running under Linux via mod_mono for example, but this technology is not really suitable for a shared server and as such it is not implemented here.

always thought:
asp = windows
php = linux
correct me if Im wrong. I am sure there may be a way to run but dont think it would make sense to do so.

You could use Linux chilisoft ASP It doesn't allow support within Windows .NET technology and is kind of a watered down version of ASP but you'd be surprise what you can put on a server regardless of os platform.

I won't do that. This cpnvertion may cause various problems. You'd rather get linux with linux software, or windows ASP plan. \
It is possible to get it cheap, say from aspnix.com, their deals are cheap, sometimes they are even cheaper than linux deals from some providers.

You are right, but sometimes people come for web hosting and subscribe with windows and at the same time linux is more then enough for them. ;)

I see no point in runnjing ASP under linux platform. It is possible but senceless. It is possible to get cheap windows hosting or run php on usual linux.
