Hi
I would like to know when it is OK to take a 301 off. I have two sites, one with a 301 transfer to the other. It's been two years now, and I have some ideas about the transfering site, so I want to reclaim it as it were.
Any ideas?

Hi Tanayacity,
A 301 is used when your site is being hit by either a spider or visitor.
This being the case the site you are redirecting from should still be loging these hits. If the logs of the old site are still displaying hits, this site is still getting traffic.
That being the case keep the 301 in place.
P.S. If your planning on using a 301 to redirect traffic from site 'A' too site 'B', keep in mind the page rank.
Does site A have page rank? Can you use site 'A' to pass page rank to site 'B'?
cheers
