When we will link to other website/webpage from our website/webpage then it is called as the outbound or external links of our website. If links which goes from your site to other site is dofollow then it will pass link juice to that particular other website but if you make it as nofollow then it will help to increase traffic on your site indirectly.

For example,

If you are telling regarding some numbers of experiments which comes from other’s content then it is good practice to link that particular content on your website because it will help users to understand regarding that particular experiment in details from original which will increase user experience and opportunity to your website to be revisited by the same users in the future.
