The google merchant center is the place to upload and then monitor a file specific to Google shopping. Product that shows up in a search result in Google shopping gets there because a seller uploaded a file to their merchant center, the file was approved by Google content and then the items published to google shopping.

Hi

The google merchant center is the place to upload and then monitor a file specific to Google shopping. Product that shows up in a search result in Google shopping gets there because a seller uploaded a file to their merchant center, the file was approved by Google content and then the items published to google shopping.

If your items are on eBay, eCrater, Bonanzle, those are considered marketplaces and the marketplace uploads your items to google shopping on your behalf. YOu cannot do it yourself.

Your own website is another matter. As long as the website meets google shopping's criteria and the file also does, then you can upload your eCommerce website product to the merchant center.

Actually Google Merchant Center has lost for me all relevancy when they started to turn in just another price comparison website.

Google Merchant Center is a tool online stores use to optimize how their products appear across Google Shopping, ads, and other services. Through Merchant Center, online stores assign structured data to products, ensuring Google can accurately understand values like names, descriptions, pictures, prices, availability, and more. Signing up for Merchant Center is the simplest way to make sure your online store and products are quickly compatible with and represented consistently across Google merchant services.

Google Merchant Center is a tool which helps you to upload your product listings for use with Google Shopping, Google Product Ads, and Google Commerce Search.

So, if someone searches for a product on Google Shopping: http://www.google.co.uk/shopping, items listed here, will have been uploaded to Google Merchant Center.

A feed is a file made up of a list of products which use groupings of attributes that define each one of your products in a unique way. In Merchant Center, all of your products will be added to a primary or a supplemental feed. Once you've created a feed, it can be added to any of the programs you've signed up for.
