It can be rather easy to define what keyword density is but the critical matter is trying to implement a great strategy when adding contents to the websites. Instead of adding too many words into the content pages, which may result in deindexing and loss of ranks, a better approach would be writing compelling contents for the readers, preferably with very low density rates.

That answer is spot on! People are still not very familiar with the new search algorithms introduced by Google, and are endorsing techniques that will no longer be fruitful and many times even have the opposite effect. Keyword stuffing, cloaking, link farming and other Black Hat SEO methods will become a thing of the past and people using them should be the first to jump ship and embrace the new tactics.

Keyword density in question will also suffer - no longer it is necessary to fill your pages with countless repetitive words and phrases just to get their ranking high. Right now is the time for creative writers to arise - building a quality and unique content is the way things are going right now. Stop worrying about backlinks as they will essentially be in your content. Once a user likes what they read, they can always find your website and get hooked if it suits their needs.

Keyword density is the percentage of times a keyword or keyword phrase is found in your page content amidst all the other content. For example, if you have a Web page with exactly 100 words on it including all headlines, captions, alt text, and advertising, and you have a keyword phrase that is on the page 3 times, your keyword density is 3%:

# of repeats of the keyword / total number of words on the page * 100 = Keyword Density

Keyword density applies to the page as it displays live on your website. Many people will create content with a high keyword density and then place it on their website with a lot of navigation, images, and advertising content and their actual density will go down.
