Can anyone tell me what is the difference between Spiders and Crawlers?

They look the same to me. But others say that Spiders open up a webpage on the browser, while Crawlers index your webpages.

Spiders is a name for the robots or crawlers that scan web and save the information in websites to a database. Hence, "Google spiders" is another name for "Google indexing bots".

Spiders and Crawlers both are the same. there are no deference between two.

Spider - A program like browser that downloads web pages.
Crawler – A program that visits website and read their inner pages.

Spiders and Crawler is both same when ever you submit a webpage in Submission sites so that is fast crawling our website so this is helpful..
Crawlers crawl your website and spider download website pages to search engine data base

The difference between spider & crawlers are :-
Spider :- Spider is an automated program that randomly visits the websites and reads entire content for making their entries in the Google search engine indices.
Crawler :- A software program that browse the websites in very orderly and it also executes link analysis and & HTML code validation functions.
