You have to go for 301 redirect that is hard redirection. which will transfer your all the credentials like PR, traffic and many more of your previous domain to the fresh domain.

if you transfer your old domain to new domain, it's called site redirection. redirection is a good option to divert your visitors to other site but it's a black hat seo method.
