Canonical tag is used when you want to have 2 same pages on your website then we use this tag to remove the duplicacy.

Canonical issues most commonly occur when a website has more than one URL that displays similar or identical content. They’re often the result of not having proper redirects in place, though they can also be caused by search parameters on ecommerce sites and by syndicating or publishing content on multiple sites.

A canonical issue arises when 301 redirects are not properly in place. This means that your website can be accessed by search engines from several different URLs. This means that search engines can then potentially index your site under different URLs, meaning that it will look like a site of duplicated content.
