Bounce rate is an annoying little metric that keeps web owners awake at night. In layman terms the metric measures the percentage of people who visited your website and left “instantly”. That’s right, “bounce rate” measures your site’s “Yuck” factor.Cutting down on Bounce Rate How to: Control your Sites Bounce RateAnnoying as it is, finding the reasons why people “quit” your website can sometime be hard to comprehend, and even harder to digest, especially when you have spent tons of time, energy, and money on developing a sound web presence.Interestingly, a high “bounce rate” can easily be managed; there are several small tweaks that you can make to cut down you site’s bounce rate.
Increase your website’s loading speed. Visitors appreciate sites that are quick and sharp and abhor sites that aren’t. Webpages that take too long to load are a major cause of high bounce rate. If you are a savvy programmer, and understand your website, you can optimize it and get rid of any unnecessary plug-ins that hinder speed.
Avoid making use of any interfering or pushy registration pop-ups. Visitors do not like interruptions while browsing through a website. Such pop-ups irritate visitors and in turn encourage them to leave. A solution to this problem is to keep away from pop-ups altogether. If your website requires a visitor to register before he/she can access any information, then get rid of that feature immediately. People use the internet for one reason, access to hassle free information. Moreover, no one will share his/her personal information with any website straightaway, especially in cases where he/she is not getting anything in return. If your website is involved in e-commerce activities or if you sell products through your website, then ultimately people will “have to register” if they wish to buy something. In other words don’t insist upon registration without a cause.
A website that looks professional will definitely attract more visitors and compel them to stay for a longer duration of time. The website should be easily navigable and should make it trouble-free for visitors to find things they want. Make sure the colours used on your website are sober and easy on the eyes.
Availability of good content is “THE” most important thing. Everything that you post on your website should be meaningful and related to the core aim of your business. Quality is of utmost importance.
Social media sites are the “in” things these days. Make use of Facebook, Twitter and other such platforms to advertise your web presence. This will definitely bring in more visitors, especially targeted visitors to your offering, and hence decrease your site’s bounce rate.
Testing the webpages constantly via A/B testing will help further reduce the bounce rate. You can go ahead and try different versions of your website. Run different trials with colours, text sizes, layouts, etc. and keep an eye on results.

High bounce rate is not always bad there are chances you are getting your target completed by visiting that page only. like you have pricing list on that page then there is number to call and after visiting that page people will call you or they may or may not visit other page.

I agree increasing bounce rate is quite impact to website's ranking. Creating custom 404 error pages is one of the good way to reduce bouncing rate and moreover a good quality content that may be an images, text or video can hold the online visitors.
