Page segmentation is a study technique devised by search engines to calculate the importance or relevance of a page to the web.A simple example of page segmentation is described when reading segments such as ‘privacy policy’ and ‘about us’ on a website. Such sections do not really determine what a page is about and are therefore irrelevant according to search engines.

Page segmentation in the language of SEO means that search engines take a more sharpen look to analyzing different parts of a web document. When a search engine looks at a web page, it wants to see what the document is really about and separate the clutter from the meat of the web page.
