That's a nice question. Ethernet is a system for connecting a number of computer to form a local area network, and avoid the simultaneous transmission by two or more system with protocols to control the passing of information.

Ethernet is the most widely-installed local area network ( LAN) technology. Specified in a standard, IEEE 802.3, Ethernet was originally developed by Xerox from an earlier specification called Alohanet (for the Palo Alto Research Center Aloha network) and then developed further by Xerox, DEC, and Intel. An Ethernet LAN typically uses coaxial cable or special grades of twisted pair wires. Ethernet is also used in wireless LANs.

The Ethernet standards comprise several wiring and signaling variants of the OSI physical layer in use with Ethernet. The original 10BASE5 Ethernet used coaxial cable as a shared medium. !!

The main point of Ethernet is to allow for easy sharing from terminal to terminal without having multiple security procedures. It creates a LAN that can be shared by a bunch of different computers.

Ethernet has largely replaced competing wired LAN technologies such as token ring, FDDI, and ARCNET. Ethernet divide a stream of data into shorter pieces called frames. Each frame contains source and destination addresses and error-checking data so that damaged data can be detected and re-transmitted.

Ethernet is a family of computer networking technologies commonly used in local area networks (LANs) and metropolitan area networks (MANs).It was commercially introduced in 1980 and first standardized in 1983 as IEEE 802.3, and has since been refined to support higher bit rates and longer link distances. Over time, Ethernet has largely replaced competing wired LAN technologies such as token ring, FDDI and ARCNET.
The original 10BASE5 Ethernet uses coaxial cable as a shared medium, while the newer Ethernet variants use twisted pair and fiber optic links in conjunction with hubs or switches. Over the course of its history, Ethernet data transfer rates have been increased from the original 2.94 megabits per second (Mbit/s) to the latest 100 gigabits per second (Gbit/s). The Ethernet standards comprise several wiring and signaling variants of the OSI physical layer in use with Ethernet.
Systems communicating over Ethernet divide a stream of data into shorter pieces called frames. Each frame contains source and destination addresses, and error-checking data so that damaged frames can be detected and discarded; most often, higher-layer protocols trigger retransmission of lost frames. As per the OSI model, Ethernet provides services up to and including the data link layer.
Since its commercial release, Ethernet has retained a good degree of backward compatibility. Features such as the 48-bit MAC address and Ethernet frame format have influenced other networking protocols. The primary alternative for some uses of contemporary LANs is Wi-Fi, a wireless protocol standardized as IEEE 802.11

Ethernet is the system which connects the number of computers together to establish the local area network. It is the layer protocol in the TCP/IP stack . It is most likely that the wired network in your office, at the bank and even at home is an Ethernet LAN. Ethernet defines two units of transmission, packet and frame.
The most commonly installed Ethernet systems are called 100 BASE-T (the "BASE-T" part means the systems use twisted-pair cabling) and provide transmission speeds up to 100 megabits per second (Mbps).

Ethernet is a network protocol that controls how data is transmitted over a LAN. Technically it is referred to as the IEEE 802.3 protocol. The protocol has evolved and improved over time and can now deliver at the speed of a gigabit per second.

Ethernet will be the The greater part generally introduced neighborhood (LAN) engineering organization. Ethernet is a join layer protocol in the tdt stack, describing how networked gadgets camwood arrangement information to transmission on other system units on the same organize segment, what's more entryway on set that information crazy on the system association. It touches both layer 1 (the physical layer) Also layer 2 (the information join layer) on the OSI system protocol model. Ethernet characterizes two units of transmission, bundle and outline. The span incorporates not the polar "payload" for information constantly transmitted as well as tending to data distinguishing those physical "Media get Control" (MAC) addresses about both sender Furthermore receiver, VLAN tagging What's more nature about administration information, Furthermore error-correction data will recognize issues in transmission. Every span may be wrapped in a packet, which affixes a few bytes for data utilized within making the association Also denoting the place the span begins.

Ethernet is the most widely used local area network technology that uses special twisted pair or fiber optical cables. Data transmission speeds for Ethernet LANs are heading into the Gigabits range with higher rates always under development for standardization.

Ethernet is an array of networking technologies and systems used in local area networks (LAN), where computers are connected within a primary physical space. Systems using Ethernet communication divide data streams into packets, which are known as frames. Frames include source and destination address information, as well as mechanisms used to detect errors in transmitted data and retransmission requests.

Ethernet is a prominent and dominant Local Area Network technology. The purpose is to share the local resources within a premise or atleast within all the nearby premises. Such resources include some costly software, databases of the company, harddisks, diskdrives or printers, email, chats, video conference etc without depending on the internet.
The name Ether in Ethernet comes because of its early history of using the ether, the open space to communicate dispersed computers via radio techniques. The expression was “ to send the packet to the ether”. The technology used those days was the CSMA/CD , presently almost extinct.

Ethernet is a way of connecting computers together in a local area network or LAN. It has been the most widely used method of linking computers together in LANs since the 1990s. The basic idea of its design is that multiple computers have access to it and can send data at any time.

Ethernet is the traditional technology for connecting devices in a wired local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN), enabling them to communicate with each other via a protocol -- a set of rules or common network language. ... An Ethernet cable is the physical, encased wiring over which the data travels.
