First you understand what search engines show you as a results.
Basically Search Engine show you two types of results
1) Paid Results or Sponsored Results
2) Organic Results

Paid results or sponsored results show with label as a "Ads" or "Sponsored links"
Search Engine charge to websites owner to show her/his website as a Ads or sponsored links.

on the other hand
Organic results are free and show without any labels.

Remember Every search query generates a SERPs results, But EVERY RESULTS ARE NOT ORGANIC SEARCH RESULTS.

He is right and you too but both things are different.
Look, organic visitors comes from search engines (but results are appear on SERP from a combination of both onpage and offpage activities.
On the other hand, visitors comes from offpage activities like social bookmarking, directory, forum as well as other type of link building strategies its call "referral visitors".
And visitors comes from social networking sites like faceboo, twitter etc, that call "social refer visitors"
