I don't know but there is a price difference in US and UK hosting services.
Do you know why it happens like that?
Let's take innohosting.com - they have DC in US and UK but prices on the same services is different.

That's because their server costs differ from country to country. Bandwidth is not the same price worldwide.

If you have audience in uk or Europe, it would be quite reasonable to get american hosting with dc in the UK to reduce costs.
Take a look at marblehost.com - they have two datacenters as well, and are attractive for their features inside the plans.

The price difference between US and UK hosting according to me is due to slightly higher infrastructure costs in the UK.

There's no general "UK vs USA hosting services " as there have always been cheap and expensive providers both in Europe and USA.
Traffic seemed to be cheaper in Europe, but gradually the traffic pricing is becoming similar.
Choosing between Europe (not UK, as the cheapest is the Netherlands) and USA see where the majority of your clients come from as transatlantic hop can cause your usa-based clients too much trouble if your site is hosted in Europe due to cheaper pricing.

That is recommended to chose the server location according to your audience location. If that is in the US - take US location for the server. Uk - UK based
So that is recommended and you can use web hosting service wherever you want

If you need low cost european hosting try looking up 7host.com which is specialized in windows and santrex.net which is offshore and has daacenters not only in Europe, but in Asia and US as well without any difference in price.

Think it's understandable that innohosting.com offers UK and US based on different prices as it depends on the prices of bandwidth in those countries.
Overall I can't say that their prices are high.

I think the reason of price difference in US and UK hosting service is that bandwidth price is different between the two countries.
