We often hear webmasters talk about building more backlinks does your web site SEO good.

I have received backlinks questions from my friend Tony.
The question are:
what if some one does the following behavior to your site.

1. created Bad Anchor tag::<a href="your site url">bad or not related keyword</a>
2. Built backlinks from or next to a bad neighbor
3. Copy your home page html and made a same page site .

Do above hurt your site? which one?
What can you to fight back?

real like to know

Thanks

Regards,

The answer is inside your question. BTW, the links in your signature, are they your's? If yes, then i would like to hear the answer from you. What do you think about it?

Hey,

Backlinks from linkfarm websites may hurt your website ranking.

Another idea in this regard could be like the number of links added in a quick time table. For example, when a site especially a newly launched one receives over 1500 links in one day, Google will easily notice that it has been using artificial link building options and techniques and it might damage the rankings and placements of the respective site online.

This all will not hurt the site.. link to bad neighborhood and copy HTML with content is big issue.. Non related keywords is not an issue but its hurt on the keyword startegy

The patent specification indicates that Google might record the discovery date of a link and its anchor text and the link changes over time. Google might also record the life span of a link and the speed at which a new web site gets links.
Google also seems to monitor the rate at which new links to a web page appear and disappear. They also monitor the growth rates of links as well as the link growth of similar documents.

So try to get links naturally not just start building like horse ,

And another answer to your question is links from site those link farms will hurt your site too . like some directories are really link farms they are just linking to them own sites , so be aware from these kind of sites

Google wbmaster Guidelines states;
"Don’t participate in link schemes designed to increase your site’s ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or “bad neighborhoods” on the web, as your own ranking may be affected adversely by those links.

Backlinks from unrelated links may hurt your websites specially if it's banned by Google.
Just my two cents :D

all the three things you mentioned will negatively affect your site, but point n.3 would badly harm your site, Google might ban your site from being indexed anymore, the other two points would lower your ranking

Links from the sit having bad neighborhood and illegal sites, porn sites should be strictly avoided. also Avoid reciprocal linking to the site having PR less than your site

If the unrelated links are from powerful & trustworthy sources like from .gov or .edu sites, it should not hurt.

I agree with bob,

.edu and .gov sites backlinks will help you a lot in all respects. Try to gain some from there

I think that only no 3 will damage the traffic, and of course, unrelated links :)
