Who can tell me what's the difference between a Windows and Linux Server? For an Ecommerce what's the best to choose?

I've found Temok.com (http://www.temok.com)- Linux VPS Hosting provider based in USA. After searching a bit on internet i've found that
"Linux servers are generally less expensive to buy and operate, more stable and more secure than Windows servers. There are many more free Open Source applications (shopping carts, forums, blogs, etc.) for the Linux servers."

So what you think should i go with this provider or still searching? If you have other suggestions will be glad to hear.

Windows are more preferred by beginners and webmasters who are more reluctant to use their server as a GUI platform. Linux offers more security compared to Windows and is preferred most by experienced webmasters. You need to know more about Linux commands to actually operate and manage the server.
