A file which one has all pages of a website that is written in XML format. it is uploaded in the root directory of a domain. It helps to increase the index process of a website.

A sitemap is an XML file which contains the URLs of your all web pages of the website and in short is called an index page of your site.A Sitemap is usually used for the purpose to allow the search engine crawlers follow the links to all your individual webpages so that it would not miss out on anything.


It allows us to include additional information about each URL or page on your website, such as when the page was last updated,how often the page changes, and how important the page is in relation to other pages on your website. This allows search engines to crawl the site more intelligently only crawling pages that need to be refreshed or added in their database.
