Please tell me what is server and proxy server.

Proxy server is browser for client applications.

A normal Server and proxy server both are computer systems.The difference is in the function they serve.A normal server take a request from the client and give direct response back to the client.But a proxy server is work like a intermediator between client and server when a client make a request to the server then firstly proxy server check into own database,if the answer is present on the proxy's database then response back to the client otherwise further send the request to the server.A proxy server may reside on the user's local computer like bookmarks on the browser.
