You snap to look at an online vendor. Abruptly your program location bar says HTTPS rather than HTTP. What's going on? Is your Visa data safe?

Uplifting news. Your data is safe. The site you are working with has verified that nobody can take your data.

Rather than HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP), this site utilizes HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS).

Utilizing HTTPS, the PCs concur on a "code" in the middle of them, and after that they scramble the messages utilizing that "code" so that nobody in the middle of can read them. This keeps your data safe from programmers.

HTTPS is secure domain and give higher preference than HTTP domains. Ranked well, and also monitoring more than HTTP domain by people and Google as well.

There is one most important purpose of https encryption: DATA SECURITY. You can know more in detail about https ssl encryption (http://blog.softsyshosting.com/2014/09/14/https-ssl-encryption-do-it-for-web-security-or-google-ranking-boost/), whether it is developed for web security or some other purpose. Google is much recommending https encryption that they are introducing "Mobile Friendliness" ranking signal on this 21st April 2015. This will give boost to the ranking of the website which is fully mobile friendly and perfectly opening in Desktop or Smartphones.

HTTP or Hyper Text Transfer Protocol is the primary technology on the web that allows linking and browsing while HTTPS or Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure that primarily develop with secure and safe internet transaction.

Hope it helps!

HTTPS is secured with SSL certificate and used while filling important credentials while http does not have any security.

HTTP stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol and HTTPS stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure. Both protocols are used for transmitting and receiving information on the internet.HTTPS provide more security as compared to the HTTP.With HTTPS if anyone in between the sender and the recipient could open the message, they still could not understand it. Only the sender and the recipient, who know the "code" can decrypt(human readable form) the message.Thats why most of the website uses HTTPS Instead of HTTP for security reasons.

HTTP is an insecure protocol. You should implement HTTPS on your website if you are taking sensitive information from your users or if you are selling something on your website.

HTTPS is simply a mark and a seal of trust for your customers. You should go with HTTPS rather than HTTP where security is a concern

HTTP lacks security mechanism to encrypt the data whereas HTTPS provides SSL or TLS Digital Certificate to secure the communication between server and client.
HTTP operates at Application Layer whereas HTTPS operates at Transport Layer.
HTTP by default operates on port 80 whereas HTTPS by default operates on port 443.
HTTP transfers data in plain text while HTTPS transfers data in cipher text (encrypt text).
HTTP is fast as compared to HTTPS because HTTPS consumes computation power to encrypt the communication channel.

HTTPS is HTTP with encryption. The only difference between the two protocols is that HTTPS uses TLS (SSL) to encrypt normal HTTP requests and responses. As a result, HTTPS is far more secure than HTTP. A website that uses HTTP has http:// in its URL, while a website that uses HTTPS has https://.

HTTP is unsecured while HTTPS is secured. HTTP sends data over port 80 while HTTPS uses port 443. HTTP operates at application layer, while HTTPS operates at transport layer.

HTTP is unsecured while HTTPS is secured. HTTP sends data over port 80 while HTTPS uses port 443. HTTP operates at application layer, while HTTPS operates at transport layer. No SSL certificates are required for HTTP, with HTTPS it is required that you have an SSL certificate and it is signed by a CA.
