Hi

First of all I am sorry if I am posting this in the wrong section, mods pls move it to the right section if so.

I have a domain name say www.abc.com hosted on a server say "Server1"

I have created a subdomain for that domain say http://chat.abc.com

Now, what I want is, I want to host chat.abc.com to another server say "Server2", which means chat.abc.com should point to another Server2 instead of Server1.

Please tell me the steps to do this (changing DNS records etc).

I will be highly greateful to you. Please?

Thank you so much in advance.

You do that using a private name server service -
Or you can go into the DNS record on the server and point the sub domain to a different IP - that being of the other server

oh ok thanks.

BTW, do I have to add nameservers for my subdomain?

Where that would be hosted? On which server? If theta is shared account somewhere on the web hosting server provider you will need to use their name servers

its a dedicated server

Question, what if I need to do this manually and not using a control panel?

Do you have root access for that dedicated server?

In cPanel 11 setup parked domains that point to other server ip's/urls! Easy as :D

Use a parked domain and manage your DNS to point the other server, or in your control panel manage your DNS to point to other server.
