A very common data analysis technique is called Cohort Analysis.
A Cohort is simply a segment of users which is based on a date.
Cohort Analysis measures changes in your business over time.

Cohort analysis is a subset of behavioral analytics that takes the data from a given eCommerce platform, web application, or online game and rather than looking at all users as one unit, it breaks them into related groups for analysis.

Cohort analysis helps you understand the behavior of component groups of users apart from your user population as a whole. Examples of how you can use cohort analysis include:

1) Examine individual cohorts to gauge response to short-term marketing efforts like single-day email campaigns.
2) See how the behavior and performance of individual groups of users changes day to day, week to week, and month to month, relative to when you acquired those users.
3)Organize users into groups based on shared characteristics like Acquisition Date, and then examine the behavior of those groups according to metrics like User Retention or Revenue.

Hi there ajay49560!

Cohort from the word itself is a group of people who share a common characteristic over a certain period of time while analysis is a detailed examination of something, typically as a basis of discussion or interpretation. Therefore, cohort analysis is a study that focuses on the activities of a particular cohort or group of people with the same characteristics. Cohort analysis allows us to identify the relationships between a population and the population's behavior.

Hope it would help you! :)

Cohort analysis is a study that focuses on the activities of a particular cohort. If we were to calculate the average income of these students over the course of a five year period following their graduation, we would be conducting a cohort analysis.
