Why the Domain Name You're About to Use is a Death Sentence
Would you agree that 100,000 of anything is a lot?
Did you know that by the end of today 100,000 domain names will be registered - and, ready to do battle with your name?
Of course, you'll consider your name to be a true gladiator. One headed for great glory. Unfortunately from the first day you launch your site, your name will be in the arena with these 100,000 blood-thirsty names. This, of course, doesn't include the 110 million+ active domain names (websites) not quite willing to welcome you with open arms.
Can your name be simply €good enough€?
The sheer size of these numbers is mind-numbing. They prove you need a powerful name just to survive. However, survival isn't your goal. It's success (profitability). To achieve this success you better have a truly remarkable name.
You've already invested plenty of hard work and money to develop your business and/or site. You also know that you'll do whatever it takes going forward to ensure success.
But will you?
If you will, then you know your name can't simply be €good enough€ by your standards. To settle on such a name goes directly against the commitment you've made to yourself. It makes absolutely no sense to do everything else right, but settle on a €good enough€. One that is only doomed to fail. It's like asking your name to go into that arena with a cardboard sword to meet its certain death.

A domain name is an identification string that defines a realm of administrative autonomy, authority or control within the Internet. Domain names are formed by the rules and procedures of the Domain Name System (DNS). Any name registered in the DNS is a domain name.

Domain names are used to identify one or more IP addresses. Domain names are used in URLs to identify particular web pages. Every domain name has a suffix that indicates which top level domain it belongs to. There are only a limited number of such domains. For example, gov, edu, org, mil, com, net, ca, th, etc. Because the internet is based on IP addresses, not domain names, every web server requires a domain name system (DNS) server to translate domain names into IP addresses.

is the act of reserving a name on the Internet for a certain period, usually one year. It is important to know that this domain will remain yours for as long as you renew it and there is no way to purchase a domain name forever.

Domain name registration is necessary for a web site, an email or another web service. However you don't have to register always a new domain name. Many companies allow you to use subdomains from their domain names for a website or you can have an email with they primary domain (ex. yahoo.com, gmail.com).

A domain name is a unique name that identifies a website. For example, the domain name of the Tech Terms Computer Dictionary is "techterms.com." Each website has a domain name that serves as an address, which is used to access the website.

The url of a website, forum, and blog etc is called domain name. It is called TLD when it has .com/.org/ or .net extension. A domain is a unique address. It should not contain special characters such as !@#$%^&*() etc. It should be easily memorable and short plus meaningful.
