Bandwidth limit exceeding depends on which plan you are hosted and how much you utilize things to get the bandwidth consumed. It usually depends on the service you are hosting on your server. Unmetered bandwidths are a good solution for the use of greater bandwidths for your server.

Some will suspend your account if you go over your disk space limit or monthly bandwidth quota, while others will let you off with a warning. ... You should be aware, though, that some companies will charge you expensive overage fees for exceeding their limits.

Bandwidth limiting will totally decide by hosting provider. You either have to contact them or if you have access of WHM server then you can set limit by yourself:
Login to WHM >> Limit bandwidth usage >> Account Functions >> Here you can change

The term bandwidth limit exceeded means that the amount of bandwidth that was allocated to the hosting plan has been reached. Bandwidth is consumed when data is retrieved from the server and delivered to the end-user (outbound traffic) as well as when the end-user uploads data to the webserver (inbound traffic).
