Learned a lot about anchor text variation in last few days, but I have a confusion now.
Suppose If I get a backlink for my website with anchor text " . "
Will it affect my website's ranking positively or negatively?

It will affect it positively if your link is from relevant website and also dofollow. but if not its not gonna cost you much. try to make backlinks from relevant website to you business.

If the linking page contains long information about the hyperlinked keyword phrase then it would be good. However if you make too much links using the same keywords then it is suspicious for search engines.

It affect your website's ranking in both positively and negatively,because too much of anchor text will creates spamming to your site.
