In the world of Online Article Marketing and Online Article Writing there are several different groups competing for the Internet Surfer. There are professionals and consultants and there are pure online marketers. Of the online marketers some sell stuff on the Internet and others attract people to their websites in hopes of having them click on an ad, and thus make a trickle of the value of that click.

The Professional Online Article Authors are upset at the low level articles that are posted at online article submission sites calling them banal in nature. Well, as an online article author myself, yes, I tend to agree with this charge, but I also know that Internet Surfers are looking for such banal articles. If you go to the home page of MSN.com or any of the news sites that have sections for pop-culture those articles all get mega traffic, by 5:1 over the "real news stories" (whoops that might be an oxymoron).

Thin content in many cases is not as obvious as understanding that you do not scrape copy from other sites or exist to syndicate content.

Automatically generated, doorway, and scraped content is known as thin content by search engines. Such content is not useful for getting information from a website.

Thin content is referred to by search engines as spam or low quality content. They can be duplicate contents and built with keyword stuffing for search engine promotion.

The Manual Actions report lists instances where a human reviewer has determined that pages on your site are not compliant with Google's webmaster quality guidelines. Google's algorithms can detect the vast majority of spam and demote it automatically; for the rest, we use human reviewers to manually review pages and flag them if they violate the guidelines. Flagged sites can be demoted or even removed entirely from Google search results. The Manual Actions page lists known issues on your site and provides information to help you address the problem. If your site’s ranking is affected by a manual spam action, we'll also notify you by email and in the message center.
