Page Rank is a quality metric invented by Google’s owners Larry Page and Sergey Brin. The values 0 to 10 determine a page’s importance, reliability and authority on the web according to Google. This metric does not, however, directly affect a website’s search engine ranking. A website with a PR 2 could be found on the first page of search results while a website with a PR 6 for the same keyword may appear on the second page of search results.

Page rank is the common algorithm of Google which ranks a site on the basis of its back links. In fact the main element of allocating a Page rank to any webpage is the number of sites linking to the webpage and their own Page rank value. This can also be taken as a popularly contest between high interest sites.

Page rank is a numerical value provided to your webpage by Google page rank service. This denotes the popularity of your webpage in search engines. A webpage is ranked in between 0 to 10 depending on the popularity of the webpage in search engines. Today it is of no value as Google has stopped updating their page rank algorithm since the past couple of years.

PageRank measure's a web page's importance.Search engines like Google fixes a rank for each website based on the keywords in domain name, content, design of website,TLD,Domain age, number of visitors, loading capacity etc.The Internet's users go to a search engine before reaching a web site. When someone types a product into a search engine, and if our web site is listed at the top of these results, they may visit our site and chances are there that they may become our customer. So to attain a good pagerank will be the aim for all websites/blogs. I have used the SEV(Search Engine Visibility) from Tucktail.com (https://www.secureserver.net/search-engine/seo-services2.aspx?prog_id=447401&pl_id=447401) as they provide keyword and suggested topics, submit the site to over 100 search engines and also provide reports which eventually improved my website traffic.

PageRank works by counting the number and quality of links to a page to determine a rough estimate of how important the website is. The underlying assumption is that more important websites are likely to receive more links from other websites.
