Hi all,
I'm just wondering if we can use the same database for more than program? Is this a good practice?
For example, if we have two websites, one build with Wordpress and the other with Drupal, could we use the same database with its credentials for both websites?
What are the advantages/disadvantages?
Your advices are welcome!
Thank you

Hello,
I am not an expert in managing databases but if you access one database from many websites only one of them should have rights to write in it or there should be a set of tables dedicated to each websites in order to prevent write errors.

I agree with you. Two different CMS could have different structure, so using the same database can bring some conflict.

Yes, you can. but it might cause problems when the sites trying to update to same tables. Using separate database is advised unless it is necessary.

This is very possible, and in fact is the normal method of operation for a database. ... You can read a lot more about it with more detail than I have gone into here. ... database to be shared with multiple server having same phpcode? ... key constraint to a websites table then we could support multiple sites.
