Domain Authority (DA) is a website metric (on a 100-point scale) developed by Moz. It is one of the most important numbers known to SEOs. Use Domain Authority when comparing one site to another or tracking the “strength” of your website over time. We calculate this metric by combining all of our other link metrics—linking root domains, number of total links, MozRank, MozTrust, etc.—into a single score.

Domain Authority is calculated by evaluating linking root domains, the number of total links, MozRank, MozTrust, etc. — into a single DA score. This score can then be used when comparing websites or tracking the "ranking strength" of a website over time.

Domain Authority is a metric which was created by Moz (SaaS company), for the purpose of rating a website on a scale of 1-100 (100 being the best and 1 being the worst). So the higher the domain authority of a website, the higher its ranking in search engines.
So if you compare your DA score with that of your competitor's site, the site with the higher DA score is likely to rank higher in search engine searches.

Domain Authority (DA) basically meant to be a rating system for a website where a score from (?/100) is being calculated for that particular website. This metric was created by MOZ.com.
If the Score is 1-20 is sound to be the Worst, if it is around 50-60 is calculated to be medium, if it is 80-100, means its the best score.
Higher the Domain Authority, better you’re going to rank in Search engines.
