Before you decide where to host your website, consider the following:
1) Where is your target audience: US/ India?
2) How many hops away would your site be from your client?
3) Do you have physical nearness to the organization with whom you have hosted?
4) Does your web hosting company have an efficient support mechanism, and how fast can you contact them?
5) Hosting your website in India offers you a range of benefits:
6) Reduced number of hops required to reach your website.
7) Reduced browsing time by approximately 300% due to faster accessible web pages.
8) No data packet loss with each hop.
9) Better customer support.

Why India? A lot of companies which have office in the India do have their servers in the US

Labour and other costs are so cheap in India. I think this is the reason companys are moving over there.

I have to agree with rumsfo. It all depends on your target audience. If your target audience is in Europe or the US, you don't really want to have your servers in India.

I believe that the strongest reason is "faster browsing speed for Indian visitors" .. That is the only benefit for hosting your sites in Indian data center. If your majority of visitors are from india, you should host your sites in Indian data center irrespective of costing factor.

yeah agreed. Why only India? instead the hosting services in india are very expensive compared to other countries.

Because the writer is Indian. As serverpoint mentioned, this is true for any country. If you are targetting local traffic, host locally. That helps in improving speed and more importantly SEO.

Datacenters in India are as good as anywhere in the world. If you are targetting worldwide traffic, it is as good or bad decision as hosting in any part of europe.

Basically you missed the point, writer was pointing out the local hosting vs hosting in US issue. Instead of India, put your country name and you have a few very valid questions asked.

for me I always go for availability and support of my host. other than that will be bonuses for me LOL! :D
