Magento is pretty resource intensive, it requires a reliable hosting company those provide magento optimized server and don't oversell. You should discuss with them about your requirement in details.

Most hosting companies out there should be reliable. The issue you are going to face it making sure that the company you go with has all the modules, and programs set up that you need in order to run the script.

You know, there are many web hosting providers out there in the web hosting industry, but it is not an easy thing to find reliable company. Say serverpoint.com offers nice web hosting plans which include magento software.
I think you will make the right decision to choose this decent company.

Magento 1.2 version includes numerous issue resolutions for Magento version 1.1.x and some highly requested new features such as: Support for Downloadable/Digital Products. (to see this new product type in action visit the Magento Demo Store. We added an example of an MP3 product and an eBook). Added Layered Navigation to site search result page, with control on the attribute level to include or exclude attributes used on the search results page. Improved site search to utilize MySQL fulltext search.

Simplehelix.com is quite a good company if you want to use Magento for running your e-stores.
It's fast and easy-to-use e-commerce applications.

It seems to me that it will be more reasonable to choose serverpoint.com as it has been providing hosting services since 1998 and this means that it is reliable company. Their web site is convenient and it offers really resourceful plans at reasonable price and they include magento software.

Since I suppose the reliabiltiy is more important than the engine, I suppose you need first to find reasonabe and stable host. The asked company charges IMHO too much, while named above serverpoint.com is much cheaper and more reliable by default.

Also take a look at a2hosting.com - this company, except for being reliable and affordable also offers most used engines within the shared plans.

If that is not extra requriments for the ecomerce application so I asume a lot of web hosts will be able to handle that

Magento is a shop program,As long as you select a hosting which support magento, but you should be sure the hosting provide these modules that you need.

Does simplehelix.com provide only Magento on their servers?
I mean maybe they provide any other e-commerce application.
What is their price range?

Have you visited magento support forums. I believe that is the best place for the related search and that would be useful for you

I believe that almost hosting companies support magento. It is just a shop program, most of hosting companies provide other e-commerce application, for example,ZenCart

If you want to run e-shop on magento, simplehelix would be a great choice.
They have supported in on Litespeed server which is fast and fully redundant.
Just my two cents.
