View Full Version : How do I disable my own webhosting space using my own cPanel?

So I recently moved host, but my old webhost still has the relevant data and databases.

Unfortunately the old webhost contains a Wordpress installation (using Updraftplus) that is running automatic backups to my Google Drive. It is doing it even after I changed the main domain's namesevers to point to the new webhost.

Is there a way for me to disable the site at the old webhost using my own cPanel?*****

Thanks for the help!

If you can still log into your old host, then you could simply delete your database, which will effectively break everything.

If you unable to login to the CPanel at the old host, then you could check whether your domain is still accessible by changing your local hosts file (/etc/hosts on Linux, or c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts on windows) to make your machine use their server to access your domain. (Faking DNS)
If they are still servicing your domain, you could log in and deactivate the backup plugin.

By far the simplest method, however, would be to change the password on your google drive, but that depends on how many other domains back up to it and the time required to fix those.

Well I just want to temporarily disable it and not delete it in case I need to switch back to the old webhost.

Any ideas? Would renaming the public_html folder work?
