Ask yourself, "What chances that Google will die in 2016?"
You get the answer for your question immediately.
As long as Google is alive and people use the interest to search and do business with, SEO won't die.
Chances that Google will stop optimizing the content in its index are 0%. So your question is directly related to the Google life expectancy.

search engine optimization has changed over the years, noting that it's still very much alive just vastly different from the way it once was.
