Your WordPress directory contains sub-folders e.g. WP-content, WP-includes etc and files e.g. WP-config.php, theme and plugin files required by your WordPress sites. You can not afford to lose this data because this is important for your site. To create a copy of your wordpress files, You just need to download your entire Wordpress directory. Login to your server via Cpanel or using a FTP program such as FileZilla or Transmit.
Hit the Go button, and save your database in a secure folder on your PC. Remember to save copies in the same locations you saved copies of your WordPress files.

It is then easy to import this data on another WordPress site. You can also use your FTP to make a backup using Cyberduck or Filezilla. It's as easy as downloading the files you want to save. Right click the files you want to save, then select “download"
