Look at your current website (or website idea). What does your website do? Is it a site that you made for fun to practice or share with friends and family? Is it your blog or other personal site? Is it a company site? Is it a store? The answers to all of these questions will help you determine what you need to look for in a web host.
If you're only making a site to practice or share with friends and family, you can probably get away with free hosting. It will be slow and there may be ads placed on it, but you will be able to practice working with web servers.

Think about your potential growth. Is your business expanding rapidly? Are gaining new customers by the day? Do you foresee a significant increase in visitors? There's a good chance that what works for you now will need to be scaled up in the near future. When choosing a web host, always try to keep the future in mind and plan accordingly.
Free hosting sites often make it difficult to transfer your site to a new host when you decide to switch.

Understand the three main types of hosting. There are three general types of servers offered by web hosting companies: Shared servers, virtual servers, and dedicated servers.
If your website is on a shared server, it will share server resources with other websites on the same server. This is often the most affordable solution, but can lead to the worst performance if other sites are hogging your resources. These are generally not recommended if you are trying to run an eCommerce site.
Virtual servers are virtual dedicated servers, and can provide a lot more stability and greater resources. These are highly recommended for small businesses that run an eCommerce store or have a decent number of monthly visitors.
Dedicated servers are entire physical servers dedicated to just your website. These are typically used for corporate websites or small businesses that do a lot of business or have very high traffic. Dedicated servers are the most expensive option, but have the least downtime and most resources.

I just got started with Hostwinds.com and so far I haven't had to contact tech support.

It's easy to use and the customer support is the best I've ever seen. It's almost like walking right up to the owner and asking them for help.
The prices are very fair...The Web-control panel features are excellent...And the support is fantastic.

Many people only look at the price of the hosting and overlook all the critical areas that affect the performance of the WordPress website.

Remember that the wrong choice in this regard can cause slow website speed, security-related issues, loss of data and server crashes.

When you choose a web hosting provider for website. do consider the following questions?

Your monthly budget?

The daily traffic on your website?

Expected traffic spikes?

Your technical support needs?

Security requirements?

Performance features you would like to have?

I would recommend you to explore a Managed Cloud Hosting Provider like Siteground, Cloudways or Kinsta.

Whenever I'll choose my hosting provider, depending on my requirement, I'll do research. If my budget for the site is less and I'm planning for less traffic site then I'll choose shared hosting.

Once I've decided that I will buy shared hosting, my next step is to do research.

I'll list all the hosting providers based on their ranking. I'll never go for the ones who are doing paid promotion.

After creating the list,
1.I'll check their brand value.
2. Reviews
3. Their social media engagement
4. Response over customer support
5. Control panel which they are providing
6. Server location
7. Wheather they provide Moneyback guarantee

There are still many points which is necessary. Its been covered in those above comments.

This is an interesting question, which requires a very broad discussion. Every person has its own requirements when looking for hosting. Personally, I always look mainly for the following things:
- the location of the host
- the prices of the plans
- whether they include SSD storage
- if there's any kind of support
- check whether there's a setup or other fees
- check if there's an uptime guarantee

I also read some reviews (although many of them are probably paid ones), and check if I can scale up or down easily in case I need to.

On one hand, shared hosting is classic first-boyfriend material — simple and uncomplicated. Most first-time hosting customers should turn to a shared package when entering the web hosting world, then decide when it’s time to upgrade to a VPS or dedicated plan to meet your increasing needs.
VPS, which stands for virtual private server, is a happy middle ground between the casual dating of shared hosting and the commitment of a dedicated server. The server is divided into virtual machines, which act as independent dedicated servers.
High-performing sites need dedicated hosting, which entails using an entire server to power your website or applications. As the name implies, dedicated servers are ready to wait on you hand and foot and meet your every configuration need.

My first priority is support. I like to have it fast and helpful, I do not expect them to do anything for me, but general questions occur, so if you have to wait for support for ages or you can not get it live, it is automatically a nono
And from there it depends what I need, how much storage and the price. Also I try not to go for the biggest companies around, just because they usually lack customer appreciation and do not treat you the best they could.

Payment options: The different payment options provided by the hosting provider
Uptime: What is uptime provided by the hosting provider?
Scalability: The options available to upgrade the existing plan and the cost of scalability.

First of all, it depends on your needs.

If they’ve got the specs that you need, and the price is right, then you should probably tell them before buying what you need their services for and see what they suggest.

Also google stuff yourself, obviously, to make sure they don’t try to sell you a higher package ( although reputable providers wouldn’t do that, I think )

I’d also search for reviews when picking a host. ( Some hosts, such as us - yes we’re hosts lol - don’t have reviews unfortunately, although we offer a damn fine service )

I’d check that they have representatives on forums, like Web Hosting Talk. That means that they’re involved in the web hosting community and you’ve got a very large userbase keeping said host accountable.

When we are choosing a hosting provider, keep a few things in mind:

- Find out what your website (or website idea) needs to function.
- Consider size and potential growth.
- Learn the difference between different types of web hosting.
- Find out which tools are providing.
- Check the amount of storage offered.
- Compare bandwidth amounts between hosts.
- Check out the technical support options and the service's up-time claims.
- Test the speed of other sites hosted by a service.
- Read reviews of a company's customer service and support team.
- Make sure you understand the costs.

You can choose AccuWeb Hosting (https://www.accuwebhosting.com/). It is a top-rated and right hosting provider.
