To measure the success of your SEO work, what metrics usually you use?

Just keep it simple.
Check the bottom line.
First check why the seo was done.
Was it done to get more downloads? increase email subscribers? improve sales?
If it is converting for what it was intended for then you do not need any metrics.

As per the my opinion, your targeted keyword ranking and targeted public engagement is the only two things which proves your website SEO done good or bad.
