Crawling is the process or reading through your webpage source by search engine spiders. They provide a cache certificate after a successful crawl. Indexing is updating the cached webpages in search engine database. Indexed webpages are now ready for search engine rankings.

Search engines experience numerous updates every time, mostly SEO (search engine optimization) updates. In the recent past Google has introduced advanced updates which include Google Panda and Penguin.

Panda updates are meant to penalize sites which are neither spam nor quality sites. The use of similar article with key words, in many pages of different sites will be penalized by these updates. The sites which copy the contents from other sites and publish on their sides are also greatly affected by Panda updates. They will be penalized and thus won’t out-rank the original publisher.

Penguin updates will lead to low ranking of the site affected. This will decrease traffic on the site during this period. Before the penalty is imposed on the site there must be high cases of either copy content or spam. Google may send a warning to the owner about the spam or irrelevant information on their site.

Crawling: When Google visits your website for tracking purposes. This process is done by Google’s Spider crawler.

Indexing: After crawling has been done, the results get put onto Google’s index (i.e. web search).

One perfect example of terms that are incorrectly used synonymously is Crawling and Indexing. Whether the writer understands the difference or not, in many SEO articles it leads the reader to believe the two words mean the same thing. They most definitely do not.

Crawling process is a final process of through which Google gives final results for your website or blog. This is a process execute by search engine spiders when searching for relevant websites on the internet.

Indexing is the process of creating indexes for record collections. Having indexes allows researchers to more quickly find records for specific individuals; without them, researchers might have to look through hundreds or thousands of records to locate an individual record.

Hello friends,

I would like to know that What is the difference between crawling and indexing?

Indexing is the process of adding web pages into Google search. Depending on which meta tag you used (index or NO-index), Google will crawl and index your pages. A no-index tag means that that page will not be added into the web search's index.

Adding your web pages in the Google search is nothing but the web indexing. Web crawler used to submit the web pages for indexing. The search engine used to collect, parses and stores data for use by the search engine.

There are many different parts to a search engine index, such as design factors and data structures. The design factors of a search engine index design or outline the architecture of the index and decide how the index actually works. The parts all combine to create the working search engine index, and include:

When you would like to display your web-page/website when you enter it's name in Google search box that time you should perform the indexing.

Hey,

I'll explain to you in the very easy way...

Crawling and Indexing is totally different things.

Crawling: in process of crawling, Google goes to your site and look all your data, blog, pages and follow links to pages and blogs and get an idea of your website and position of your website compared to others.

Indexing: After crawling, in this process google done process of adding your page or website into google search. It will finalize the position of your site and put into your google search this all process done after crawling. your site may be not shown in google search if you put your site as no index it means you directly indicate don't show my site on google search.
