Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) is a system used by Google and other major search engines. The contents of a web page are crawled by a search engine and the most common words and phrases are collated and identified as the keywords for the page. It is a part of the Google algorithm. It is a system that uses a mathematical technique to understand the relationship between terms or keywords.

LSI is a term in SEO, which stands for Latent Semantic Indexing. When a search engine (Google, Yahoo, Bing ...) uses this method, it will try to list searches related to the keyword you searched for.

Latent symantic indexing , in google's eyes is similar to a synonym meaning it has the same meaning for example a latent semantic word wor lets say graphic design would be motion graphics , or visual communication ot logo design . The point of these are to basically use these terms to increase the relevancy of your site without keyword stuffing.

Latent semantic indexing (LSI) is a system search engines use to analyze the other words people use surrounding a given topic. ... I've seen a number of posts refer to LSI keywords as synonyms of the target keyword, but this is misleading.

LSI keywords (Latent Semantic Indexing) are basically keywords that are semantically related to your primary keyword. Contrary to popular belief, they are NOT just synonym or keywords that are similar in meaning.
