I have just come across aspnix.com as I am looking for windows hosting solution and found out that the price is the same for their reseller and VPS hosting plans.
Moreover, I recognized that it offers specials: sign up and win Zune HD 32GB or Windows 7.

So, what hosting solution would you choose?
What is the difference between their reseller and VPS hosting plans?

VPS is much the same level with dedicated server, so you can create reseller accounts. However, if you are not familiar with VPS/server, you should be careful when choosing a VPS

Shared Web Hosting is the most common type of budget web hosting. You are hosted on a
server with different websites, that you share the server with. Shared Hosting allows multiple customers to share the resources of one server, so it is a very economical solution to host websites. All websites share the same IP and server hostname with shared hosting. This type of Hosting is not always well suited for all types of sites, especially for high traffic sites, because it is not always possible to isolate each website from other sites that share the server.

A VPS is just like a dedicated server in terms of functions it offers to its users like root SSH access, administrative control, flexibility to install custom software and applications etc but at an affordable price compared to a dedicated server. As a user you can get your own virtual environment with dedicated amount of server resources for your own usage. The control provided by VPS Hosting is perfect for developers or those who require total control and need to have the ability to configure the server the way they like, and install custom software as needed.

VPS Hosting is an isolated environment whereas in a shared hosting environment the server resources are shared among all accounts on the server. In a shared environment you have limitations that are determined by the host whereas with VPS Hosting you are in control - you decide how and what your server is to run.

Reseller hosting designed for those who want to become Web hosts themselves. One gets a large amount of space and bandwidth that can be divided up among as many sites as the user wants to put on his account. A reseller account is placed on the same server with other reseller accounts, just like with shared hosting but there are fewer accounts.

Virtual Private Server technology enables one physical server to house several Virtual Environments which behave exactly like an isolated stand-alone server. This is often a much more affordable solution than a dedicated server, normally offering all the same benefits, such as root access.

VPS versus Reseller Hosting

Mentioned the 3-letter words, VPS, it carves a smile to certain people. Why? Because it resembles a dedicated server. This is particularly a cheerful news for those folks who wish to own a dedicated server but cannot afford to do so. Basically, as most of you would have known by now, VPS stands for Virtual Private Server. The physical server is separated into a few partition and these partitions are the VPS-es. It gives you the feeling of having a stand-alone server when you purchase the hosting spaces. You are isolated from your neighbours and barely know each other although under the same roof.

VPS is not a dedicated server.

In a VPS a particular amount of ram and cpu is alloted for your server.

Where as in a shared or reseller entire cpu and ram is shared among all accounts in the server.

The advantage of vps is you can install any modules or application you want since you have root access but this is not the case in the shared and reseller.

VPS hosting is generally powered by the Virtuozzo server virtualization daemon which is used by many web hosting providers to offer both Windows and Linux VPS hosting solutions to customers.

Reseller hosting is a variation of a shared hosting, which in turn is a kind of a budget solution for those who are just starting off or have moderate needs. The idea behind shared hosting is quite simple – a lot of accounts on one single physical server.

share and reseller hosting simply as many user host in one server, and is limitation of usage such as CPU, Memory. I'm user of share hosting and it's real experience to tell you even my site is not populate as but also facing the problem of 'time out' , 'not response from the server cause it take too long time to loading' all this non sense connection will happen to my sites, even sometimes it will saying your IP address was block in the FIREWALL when you trying log into the cpanel at your home base. it was bad experience, sometimes hosting company will mailing you to warn your site is using bad scripts and it exceed the limitation of usage of CPU AND MEMORY. Share and reseller hosting can host up to 300 account in one server, it surely condemn your website performance if you are trying to use it for business website which have regular user visit. because it take longer time to loading from the server if there is many backend user are doing scripting and other sites having so call bad scripts. So call " unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited is just a marketing tools to confusing those beginner and continues happen until today.

share hosting / reseller hosting - "unlimited" simply only allow those website are hosted in the server given less people view and basic html or none scripting or just as simple as you are. you can move into that package.

if you are serious web, heavy, and many scripting, are not advisable, it will cause you thousand of question end up fail out with those all HOSTING COMPANY. because all selling cheap, unlimited, but you do not know the secret behind of the server are running. in term of hardware, and application as well.

I'm trying to search better solution for my web and move to VPS. My curious is VPS claim as having SSH Root accessing, other than that is it similar also sharing with others in the same server ?

How many account will allocate in VPS for one server?

will there be similar as share hosting can hook up to 300 account or even more in one server ? I do not know the market hosting company offer such VPS is only allow few account occupy one server or more than fewer ? fewer mean less than 10 account using the server ? or more ?

I had trying ask for host company, and answer is VPS similar to dedicated specification but it was not dedicated as you own the server because it also sharing with few account in one server, is just not same as share hosting can hook up to many user.

BUT ---- if someone running bad scripts on the VPS, it will slow down the performance as well when your sites are host in same server with that badscripts guys.

Reseller Hosting Packages - Reseller accounts are accounts which allow resellers to host multiple domains and clients. they are normally hosted within a shared environment and they are compliant to server wide rules.
VPS Packages- A VPS has the capability of running on its own dedicated system.i.e. a VPS can run its own full-fledged operating system and can manage its resources. One who needs an independent system but needs less resource than a dedicated server VPS is the best solution with much less price tag.

In regards of Reseller vs. VPS (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=591375). VPS offers you the features similar to a dedicated server, but it is virtually shared by few other tenants. Whereas a reseller can sell their resold accounts at their own price and some hosting providers offer the private label reseller plan.

Let me explain, a reseller hosting is used to resell web hosting and they are managed by the company from whom you get it, also they have shared resources like shared CPU and RAM whereas a VPS comes up with dedicated resources and also they are both managed and unmanaged. The unmanaged VPS are lower in rate so if you can manage a VPS it will help you to get it at cheap rate.

Hi,

Well, it really depends on what your needs are. For most people, the reseller's account should be sufficient but if you need control or trying to learn to get on to a dedicated server without the cost, the VPS can be a great way to go.

I don't see the VPS taking over the reseller's account anytime soon. One main issue is that a reseller's account is most likely fully managed but with a VPS, you need to be at least fluent with server management and not be afraid to enter the realm of SSH.

How much CPU load or RAM a reseller account can handle depends on how much free resources is left so on a lightly loaded server, you could almost use the full resources of the dedicated server. However with a VPS (if it is not oversold), you only get up to the resources of what you are provided and usually not more.

Some sites may be best suited on a dedicated server and thus a lightly loaded reseller account may be able to handle that but probably may not really work well on a smallish VPS.

I know ilovefreehosting.com offer nice VPS and Reseller web hosting http://ilovefreehosting.com/solutions at good rates

Shared Hosting
Shared Hosting includes our Business Class Hosting Plans. Shared Hosting is very similar to living in an Apartment Complex. All residents are in the same location and must share the available resources with everyone. These may include such things as the pool, parking lot, and play ground. In shared hosting, all accounts must share the available resources with all the other accounts on the server. These include CPU time, memory, and disk space. Want to compare shared hosting? Check out InMotion Hosting vs. HostGator.

VPS Hosting
VPS Hosting includes our 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB VPS Hosting Plans. VPS Hosting is similar to owning a Condo. While you still share things on the property, you are ultimately responsible for maintaining your own property and repairs inside the condo. There is also significantly less residents per building and assigned parking. On a Virtual Private Server, you are allotted resources that are not shared by everyone. The over all CPU time and memory are shared across all accounts on the machine, but at the same time portions of those resources are always dedicated to each account. This allows for more power and flexibility than being on a shared account

manoharparakh

The term VPS stands for Virtual Private Server. A VPS employs specialized virtualization technology that allows the partitioning of resources on a larger server (called a parent server) into smaller instances that run a fully contained operating system. Each of these partitions is considered a full server capable of hosting multiple websites on multiple user accounts.

One of the key differences between a VPS and a classical shared server is in the way in which the resources are distributed between its users. The letter P in VPS stands for Private, which indicates that the resources allocated for the instance are genuinely yours and will not be further allocated to any other users. On a VPS, if you pull resources from the parent server, only that user should have access to it. Additionally, a VPS also allows us to possess root user level access (or server-wide access as a superuser.)

Reseller hosting is a method of web hosting where the owner of a large server resells portions of the disk space and bandwidth to other users. In essence, the reseller rents out disk space for a website to different users, effectively providing access to the internet for that account. Reseller hosting usually comes with a control panel similar to the ones mentioned earlier (InterWorx, cPanel or Plesk) which provide for an easy and secure method of control over a websites’ functions and services.

Herein, lies the core difference, Reseller Hosting allows you to run an online business where you provide hosting service (https://easy.gr/en/hosting/managed-hosting) to your customers, while in VPS you could be running any kind of business and only need to purchase the hosting to manage the websites you have

jesica

The main difference between the two services is their intended purpose.
Reseller hosting lets you partner with a host and sell their solutions as your own. Your clients will never know who the real provider is, but you are also responsible for the support servicing.
VPS hosting is much more versatile, allowing you to start any kind of business and utilize the server resources as you wish. Managed VPS solutions also include expert support from the host. But that’s just scratching the surface.

Hosting for resellers is intended for people who want to run their own websites. A lot of space and bandwidth are provided, and they can be shared among as many websites as the user chooses to add to his account. Similar to shared hosting, but with fewer accounts, a reseller account is set up on the same server as other reseller accounts.
In terms of the features it provides to its users, such as root SSH access, administrative control, flexibility to install custom software and apps, etc., a VPS is identical to a dedicated server, but at a more reasonable cost when compared to a dedicated server. You can obtain your own virtual environment as a user with a set number of server resources for your exclusive use. For developers or other people who need complete control, the ability to configure the server any way they like, and the capacity to install customized software as required, the control offered by VPS Hosting is ideal.
