First thing the hidden links are the black hat SEO technique. If you have a link contained in a div and set display to none then user won't be able to see that link. These links solely used to manipulate the search engine results, that is why it is black hat SEO technique.
When search engines discover the sites are using black hat seo tactics then the minor or major action is taken. If minor action is taken then the particular page is remove from indexing which contained hidden links or other things that violates the search engine guidelines. If major action is taken then whole website can be removed from the indexing.
So, the conclusion is , avoid these type techniques and focus on White Hat SEO (http://www.onlinedigitalhouse.co.uk/search-engine-optimization.php).
