Domain name investing is similar in many ways to financial investment, and picking a domain name within a specific top-level domain (TLD) for your domain name is much like picking a stock or commodity.

With the rise of private blog networks (great for SEO), the demand for old domain names with age, backlinks and therefore Google authority is rising. Even a domain with a terrible name is valuable (often hundreds, potentially thousands of $) if it has age and backlinks.

Is it of buying TLD and then selling it when demand for that domain increases?

Domain names are needed by humans to reach a website. When you visit a website your device connect IP number of a webserver. If there were no domain people had to use long server IP numbers instead of domains. For humans it's impossible to use and remember long IP numbers, especially the new longer ipv6 numbers. But for machines, web browsers, it's not difficult and it's what already done in the background.

A domain investor, also known as a domainer, is someone that registers domains as an investment. A domain investor registers domains they deem valuable with the hope to resell them for more money to an interested party.

Every registered domain name is owned by a person or entity of some kind, such as a company, organization, or government. It is possible for registered domain names to exist but not be associated with any Internet resource.

This is where domain investing comes in.

When domain names are not in use, their owners have the option of selling them in what is called the “domain aftermarket.”

Domain investors purchase them with the hope they will gain value over time.

Some domain investors also search for entirely new domains.

When they find an available name they think will gain in value, they register it and hold on to it until they feel they can sell if for a profit.

The prices of aftermarket domain names vary widely.

Determining the market value of a domain name is a complex process, similar to determining the market value of a piece of real estate.

Domain names must conform to the rules of, and be registered in, the Domain Name System, or DNS. ... A domain (http://easy.gr/en/) investor, also known as a domainer, is someone that registers domains as an investment. Domains are Internet real estate and there is only one of each domain name available per top-level domain (TLD), i.e. there is only one mywebsite.com. Since we own mywebsite.com, the only way for someone else to own this domain is to purchase it from us or to try and register it if we don't renew it and it becomes available again.

This is so funny. People are commenting " A domain investor, also known as a domainer, is someone that registers domains as an investment. Domains are Internet real estate and there is only one of each domain name available per top-level domain (TLD), i.e. there is only one dynadot.com. " Is this something special? There is a really cool real estate investor group (https://connectedinvestors.com) that you can use to find better homes for better prices. I used their services and they managed to get me a much nicer home for less money which was my goal from the start.

Domain name investing is where creativity and data intersect to create opportunities to own valuable digital assets that can have more upside than the stock market and if done correctly much less risk.

Hello friend,
Rent for domain names comes in the form of ad revenue. Domain name investors can park their domain names with companies that show ads related to the domain topic. Investors earn money whenever someone visits their domain and clicks on the ads.
