Is AMP necessary for e-commerce websites?

I know Accelerated Mobile Pages provide website to load fast in mobile devices, even over slow networks, but I want to know is that necessary? If I do not use AMP then my website can’t rank high?

It is not necessary but advisable. Especially if you have traffic from mobile devices, chances are it will go up if you implement AMP. It might not happen immediately, but eventually.
