DNS is an acronym in English of the Domain Name System, which was the name resolution system invented in 1984 for the Internet, the only system that allowed the corresponding set of IP addresses and domain names. Domain Name System (DNS) is a sequential naming system for computers, services, or any resource that participates in the Internet. It links a variety of information with the domain name assigned to the participants. Most importantly, it translates meaningful human domain names into binary identifiers, bundled with network equipment for the purposes of locating and addressing devices around the world.

Domain Name Servers (DNS) are the Internet's equivalent of a phone book. They maintain a directory of domain names and translate them to Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. This is necessary because, although domain names are easy for people to remember, computers or machines, access websites based on IP addresses.

DNS servers contains the list of domain names and their associated IP address. DNS servers used to remember the IP address from which your websites are going to load. We can just remember the site name but IP address of site is remembered by DNS server.

Domain Name Servers (DNS) are what might as well be called a telephone directory. They keep up a registry of space names and make an interpretation of them to Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. This is essential in light of the fact that, in spite of the fact that space names are simple for individuals to recollect, PCs or machines, get to sites in view of IP addresses.

Hi

A DNS server is a registered computer to join the domain name system. If you want access to geo-blocking websites or even websites that block specific state users, then DNS-based filters are the best choice. Some Internet Service Providers have applied filtering by changing their dynamic DNS server to redirect requests to other websites for blocked websites.

Hope this helps you.

Domain name servers are a fundamental part of the Domain Name System. Nameserver is a server on the Internet specialized in handling queries regarding the location of the domain name’s various services. In easy words, name servers define your domain’s current DNS provider.

All domains usually have at least two DNS servers which can be checked via Whois lookup tool.

For example: we provide name servers for all domains registered with us (they are called Namecheap BasicDNS) and their values are:

dns1.registrar-servers.com
dns2.registrar-servers.com

Each computer on the internet is assigned a unique address called IP address. An IP address is nothing but a string of numbers. It is very difficult to keep in mind the IP address of all the websites we visit daily. Words are easier to remember than string of numbers. This is where domain names come into the picture. When you visit a website, all you need to know is the URL(Uniform Resource Locator). Computers remember numbers and DNS helps us convert the URL into an IP address that the computer can understand.

DNS stands for Domain name system.

It translates domain name(which is easy for human to memorize) to its IP address(used by computers for communication).

For example:

When you type www."something".com (like Facebook) your request goes to a DNS server form where it will get the IP address and then to Facebook server.

Without DNS server you need to type the IP address of Facebook.

The Domain Name System (DNS) is the phonebook of the Internet. Humans access information online through domain names, like nytimes.com or espn.com. Web browsers interact through Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. DNS translates domain names (https://www.host.co.in/domain-names.php) to IP addresses so browsers can load Internet resources.

Each device connected to the Internet has a unique IP address which other machines use to find the device. DNS servers eliminate the need for humans to memorize IP addresses such as 192.168.1.1 (in IPv4), or more complex newer alphanumeric IP addresses such as 2400:cb00:2048:1::c629:d7a2 (in IPv6)
