On-page refers to both the content and HTML source code of a page that can be optimized, as opposed to off-page SEO which refers to links and other external signals.” It takes into account all aspects of the webpage that, when added together, will improve your rankings in the search results.

On Page:
This aspect of SEO is concerned primarily with the content on the site and how well it is optimized for relevant keywords, and how it provides a good 'user experience' for visitors.

Off Page:
This aspect of SEO is concerned primarily with inbound links from other websites to your site. Natural links from authoritative and relevant websites act as an independent 'vote of confidence', which helps search engines, trust your website more.

On-Page SEO refers to all the things that you can do on your website to help you rank higher, such as page titles, internal linking, meta tags & descriptions.
Off page SEO refers to techniques that can be used to improve the position of a web site in the search engine as a link building.

On Page SEO is optimizing site and making it search engine friendly to get better rankings while off-page SEO is performed for increasing backlinks.

When you optimize your website, its content or links then it is called on page and when you create back links on other sites or make your posts on other sites then it is known as off page optimization.

Off-Page SEO: Optimization is usually done off the website. Link building methods such as blog posts, forum posts, infographic submissions, press release submission.
On-Page SEO: Optimization is done inside the website. For example, content writing, keyword analysis, submission of sitemap.xml, meta, h1, alt, title tags in HTML etc.
