A Uniform Resource Locator (URL), colloquially termed a web address, is a reference to a web resource that specifies its location on a computer network and a mechanism for retrieving it. A URL is a specific type of Uniform Resource Identifier (URI), although many people use the two terms interchangeably.

URL structure contains http:/https/ protocol, domain, directory or folder name, category-name, and file name. Domain name may be brand name or keyword phrases that may or may not include locality keywords. Simple and meaningful URL structure is useful for users to remember it.

URL is the uniform resource locator which specifies the location of particular web page on the internet. It is nothing but the web address. It also specifies how to retrieve the resource that is nothing but the protocol. Those are in human readable format , previous URLs comes in numbers. The protocol contains the protocol, domain name and path.

There are basically two types of URL structure as below -

1. Relative URL
2. Absolute URL

1. Absolute URL -

This is the URL which is independent of any other URL that is it will redirect you to the exact URL which is specified, there ill be no dependency or redirection in absolute URL. It is always recommended that you should use this type of URL structure. These are generally long URLs which are not used by the web-developers but you should use it.

SEO point of view, this is the best URL structure to use.

2. Relative URL -

Relative URLs do not have the full address. Those are mostly consist of the short URL that is just site name and directory name. Those are mostly used by the webmaster. Relative URLs helps webmaster to maintain the site without rewriting the whole path again and again if they had made any changes in the directory
